Chennai Super Kings will miss the services of their recruit Kyle Jamieson in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League as news of the all-rounder’s back surgery surfaced in media outlets. Jamieson has been out of competitive cricket since June 2022 due to a stress reaction to his back. Without Jamieson, CSK has to look for a similar impact player in IPL 2023 as the Kiwi all-rounder will miss the entire season of the tournament. Jamieson was bought by CSK for INR 1 crore at the mini-auction in December 2022.
Jamieson was expected to make a comeback to competitive cricket at the ongoing New Zealand vs England test series. The first match of the test series was won by England by 276 runs as the “Bazzball” juggernaut continues to roll.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead has expressed his disappointment in missing an all-rounder of the capabilities of Kyle Jamieson. However, he also wants to give Kyle the best chance of recovering from his injury. Gary has also agreed to the fact that these are difficult times for the star all-rounder and a big loss for New Zealand.
The Kiwi coach is also aware of the fact that each player has a different period for recovery. It must be at least three to four months before deciding on when Jamieson will be a match fit. However, the only silver lining here is the surgery which will allow him to make a relatively quick comeback into the New Zealand side.
