Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the remainder of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 after he failed to recover from his Achilles’ injury. Cricket Australia has confirmed that Hazlewood has failed to recover from his injury in time and will take no further part in the India vs Australia test series. This surely is a big blow to Australia which is currently down by 2 games in BGT 2023 after losing the Nagpur and Delhi tests.

Hazlewood was training hard in recent times to be fit for the final 2 test matches of the series but has failed to recover in time to be in contention for a spot in the playing XI. Now, he will head home where he will undergo his rehabilitation process. Josh will also not be available for selection for the next Sheffield game.

Australia coach Andrew McDonald, however, had a few positive news for the Aussie fans. He has declared Camron Green 100% match fit and will be available for selection for the 3rd India vs Australia test match to be played at Indore. He has also hinted at the inclusion of Mitchell Starc in the playing XI of the third test. Both Green and Starc were recovering from the finger injuries they sustained during their team’s recent home assignment against South Africa.

Todd Murphy, the star from the 1st test in Nagpur, also reported a side strain after the 2nd test match in Delhi. On being asked about Murphy’s availability for the Indore test, McDonald said he had a slight niggle and will be fit before March 01.
