Casshern R: In a recent update from Akita Shoten’s Monthly Champion RED publication, it has been revealed that a new manga titled “Casshern R” is set to be launched by Satoshi Shiki. This manga will serve as an adaptation of Tatsunoko Production’s classic television anime “Shinzō Ningen Casshan.” The upcoming release is scheduled for the magazine’s next issue, hitting shelves on September 19. The manga’s script is expertly crafted by Chabo Higurashi.
The narrative of “Casshern R” revolves around the protagonist Tetsuya Azuma, who undergoes a remarkable transformation into Casshern. His purpose: to valiantly combat the formidable Andro and his army, sworn enemies of humanity.
The original “Shinzō Ningen Casshan” anime was initially broadcast in Japan back in 1973. The enduring legacy of the series was later revitalized with the release of “Casshan: Robot Hunter.” It was an animated video remake in 1993. Additionally, a live-action movie remake directed by Kazuaki Kiriya premiered in 2004. Notably, both Streamline Pictures and ADV Films introduced “Casshan: Robot Hunter” to North American audiences, while the live-action film adaptation, titled “Casshern,” was released by Go Fish Pictures.

A subsequent revitalization arrived in 2008 with “Casshern Sins,” a fresh take on the anime series. Funimation contributed to the global reach of this release by streaming the anime complete with English subtitles. North American fans also had the opportunity to own the series on Blu-ray and DVD.
Satoshi Shiki, the accomplished creator, recently unveiled the “Akuma Kōjo” manga, an adaptation of Biyori Harunohi’s original narrative. This intriguing addition graced the pages of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in May 2022.
Shiki, known for masterpieces like “XBlade,” “XBlade Cross,” and “Daphne in the Brilliant Blue,” concluded the “Attack on Titan: Before the Fall” manga in March 2019.
For English-speaking enthusiasts, Seven Seas Entertainment is presenting Shiki’s rendition of Osamu Tezuka’s “Dororo” manga, titled “The Legend of Dororo and Hyakkimaru” (Dororo to Hyakkimaru-den). This captivating remake was introduced to readers via the pages of Monthly Champion RED magazine in October 2018.
