Indian speedster Mohammad Shami has revealed that he wants to focus on his fitness to help India’s chances in the upcoming ICC men’s 50-over world cup in October-November. Shami revealed his plan during a press conference after the India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI at Raipur. India won the 2nd ODI against New Zealand by 8 wickets and grabbed the series. Mohammad Shami’s inspired opening spell was the key factor that helped India pocket another home series against the Kiwis.

Shami was talking to the press reporters after the match where he revealed his plans as the 50-over world cup approaches. He expressed his desire to strengthen India’s chances at the world cup and for that, he believes, fitness and diet are the keys. He knows that the season ahead is filled with international and IPL commitments and for him to represent India at the world cup, he must focus more on his fitness.

He was also asked questions regarding workload management during the press conference. He said that he loves playing matches more than practicing. He believes that one can hone his skillsets only by playing more and more matches, especially before a big tournament like the world cup. But at the same time, it is also important to manage the workload so that the key players are both match-ready and fit to play at a big event.
