Every year the Indian Premier League (IPL) presents before us some exciting talents who just come and conquer the field. If we look at the past, the IPL has given us talents like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shardul Thakur and more. The 15th edition of IPL was no different. It sprung out some impressive talent who we think can make their debut for the senior Indian cricket team soon.
We have shortlisted some uncapped Indian players who were so impressive that their respective teams retained them in their original squads before the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Although it will be tough for them to find their place in the senior squad given the bench strength of the Indian team but who knows!
Abhishek Sharma
The young southpaw from Punjab who plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad became the leading run scorer for his franchise in IPL 2022. After a few hits and misses with Jason Roy and Wriddhiman Saha at the top, the team management gave a go-ahead to this young lad and boy did he grab that chance with both hands. Considering there has been a lot of debate around putting put a left-right combination for India at the top, Abhishek Sharma might soon find a place for himself in the Indian team.
Tilak Varma
Hyderabad-born Tilak Varma made everyone take notice of his talent in IPL 2022 with some fine performances for his franchise – Mumbai Indians. He played some fine knocks under pressure and it was evident that he had a still head over his shoulders. The 19-year-old eventually finished as MI’s leading run scorer in the tournament. Even Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians skipper, was so pleased with his performance that he predicted Varma will soon represent India in all three formats.
Jitesh Sharma
Another player who emerged as the “player to watch out” for in the previous IPL is Jitesh Sharma. The wicketkeeper-batsman from Vidarbha played some sensational knocks for his franchise team – Punjab Kings. Sharma made his name especially due to some clean-hitting he did in the death overs. He eventually finished with 263 runs in his kitty from 10 games. He had a pretty exceptional tournament behind the stumps as well.
Mohsin Khan
Mohsin Khan has been part of the IPL since 2019 but the chance to showcase his skill only came during IPL 2022 when he stepped inside the ground representing Lucknow Supergiants. He impressed on his debut game against the Gujarat Titans in which he just conceded 18 of his 4 overs to go along with a wicket. His control over line and length made everyone turn around and take a look at this Uttar Pradesh lad. As the season approached its conclusion, Mohsin became the go-to bowler for KL Rahul. He eventually ended up having 14 wickets to his kitty at an impressive average of less than 6.
