The Indian Cricket team and its fans received a pre-Christmas gift from one of their star players – Jasprit Bumrah when he shared his video of bowling in nets on his Instagram handle. The star Indian pacer was suffering from a back injury that left the bowling unit without a spearhead for most of 2022. The video came as a massive boost for Indian cricket as it prepares for some big home series in 2023.

Bumrah missed most of 2022 due to his back injury. He missed the Asia Cup in Dubai and the T20 world cup in Australia. However, it would be interesting to see if the team management will field him during the upcoming home series against Srilanka in January 2023.

Bumrah will likely be a part of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy scheduled in February 2023. He will bolster India’s pace lineup that already comprises names like Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav. Currently, the Indian pace attack is spearheaded by Umesh and Mohammad Shami.

The Indian cricket team has found it difficult to contain runs and strike at crucial junctures without Bumrah this year. It is probably for the best that India must create a new pool of fast bowlers who can replace injured players. Having a large pool of pacers will also mean players like Bumrah and Shami can be rested and rotated, thus reducing their chances of getting injured frequently.
