The India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI match saw an extravaganza batting performance by team India as Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli scored centuries to propel their team to 390 for 5 at the end of 50 overs. Gill and Kohli scored their 2nd and 46th ODI tons respectively to put India in the driver’s seat at the end of the first innings. Sri Lanka needs an out-of-the-box batting approach to chase down this total and salvage some draw in the dead rubber.

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first on a very nice wicket at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The Indian openers gave their team a flying start with the duo of Rohit and Gill putting up 90+ runs in 15 overs. After Rohit departed when the team score was 95, Kohli came to bat and stitched a 131-run partnership in around 18 overs. After Shubman departed for 102, Kohli took upon himself the onus of scoring runs and reached his 46th ODI hundred. Although wickets kept tumbling on the other end, Kohli did not let the scoring tempo down and India plundered 116 from the last 10 overs to put up a formidable score on the board.

It is now up to the Indian bowlers to try and restrict their opponents below 390 to take the series 3-0.
