Modern limited-overs cricket great Virat Kohli equaled the legendary Sachin Tendulkar when he scored his 45th ODI century against Sri Lanka in the first ODI at Guwahati on January 10, Sachin Tendulkar has 49 ODI centuries while Kohli just scored his 45th ton. Additionally, this is also Kohli’s 73rd international ton and is currently only behind Tendulkar’s 100 international centuries. Kohli ended his 3-year century drought in international cricket in the last ODI against Bangladesh in December 2022.

This is Kohli’s 20th ODI century at home and incidentally, stands equal with Sachin Tendulkar again for most ODI centuries at home. Tendulkar played 164 ODIs at home and scored 20 centuries. Kohli has scored his 20th ODI ton at home in his 101st game.
Kohli and Tendulkar also jointly hold the record of scoring the most ODI centuries against one team. Kohli has 9 ODI centuries each against West Indies and Sri Lanka whereas Sachin’s favorite opponent was Australia.

Virat Kohli now needs __ runs to break into the list of “Top 5 Highest Run Scorers in ODIs” that is headed by Sachin Tendulkar, followed by Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene.
