India has posted 373 for 7 wickets in the first ODI of the 3-match ODI series being played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. India posted this total on the back of a fabulous 45th ODI century from Virat Kohli and quickfire half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul also contributed with brisk 28 and 39 runs respectively. This is India’s 18th-highest score in one-day internationals. Sri Lanka must score at just below 7.48 per over if they want to go 1-0 up in the series.
Sri Lanka won the toss and asked India to bat first on a pitch that has generally assisted batters. India started well with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting on 146 runs for the 1st wicket. After the 1st wicket, in came Virat Kohli and he put on some brisk partnerships with Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Axar Patel to put India in a commanding position.
The Lankan bowlers were pounded for runs. Kasun Rajitha was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 88 from his 10 overs. Madhushanka, Shanaka, de Silva and Karunaratne picked up one wicket a piece.
It all now depends on the start the Lankan openers give to their team.
