A sexual harassment FIR has been lodged against ex-India hockey player and the current Sports Minster of Haryana Sandeep Singh. A female coach has lodged an FIR against Sandeep Singh at the Chandigarh Sector 26 police station. The complaint was lodged against the Haryana Sports Minister on December 31, 2022, under the IPC sections 354, 354A, 354B, 342 and 506. The DGP of Haryana has formed a Special Investigative Team (SIT) which will conduct thorough research on the matter and submit the findings at the earliest.
The victim said that Sandeep Singh sexually harassed her in his government residence. She also accused the Chief Minister and the State Home Minister of not taking any action even after her repeated pleas. The opposition has taken a strong stance against the current regime in the state and is demanding Singh’s resignation.
The victim’s accusation against the Sports Minister did not stop there. She accused Singh of being involved in sexually harassing several female athletes as well. The victim said that Sandeep contacted her through Instagram and was using the app’s vanish mode while texting (text messages sent through vanish mode on Instagram get deleted). She was then later called to meet him at his government residence to produce some important documents. The incident happened at Sandeep’s residence thereafter.
Sandeep Singh has denied all the accusations made against him. In a released statement he said that all the accusations were fake. He has unknowingly become part of a gruesome conspiracy. Singh stated that he doesn’t know the female coach.
