Amidst all the controversies regarding the BCCI and politics in Indian cricket after a sting operation of the Chairman of the BCCI selection committee Chetan Sharma, Shreyas Iyer’s fitness news has given the Indian fans something to cheer about. Shreyas has been declared fit for the 2nd test match of the Border Gavaskar series 2023 to be played in Delhi from February 17 onwards. Iyer will join the Indian test squad in Delhi after BCCI’s medical team gives him a clearance certificate. Iyer played his last international match against Sri Lanka in January 2023.

Iyer’s injury sidelined him from the following New Zealand ODI series which India won last month. Incidentally, he injured his back, not his shoulder, which had earlier sidelined him from the Indian team. He was initially announced in India vs Australia 2023 test series squad but was replaced by Suryakumar Yadav after he failed to recuperate from his injury in time.

India defeated Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the first test match of the Boarder Gavaskar trophy in Nagpur. With Shreyas declared fit, India will have to rest Suryakumar Yadav, who could only score 8 in his debut test match in Nagpur.
