Battlegrounds Mobile India or BGMI is expected to return to the Google Play Store on January 15, 2023. This claim was made by Pratik “Alpha Clasher” Jogiya in one of his recent live streams. After more than 5 months, since BGMI was removed from the app listings of the App Store and Google Play Store, the news comes as a breath of fresh air for the Indian gaming industry. The Indian Government had earlier requested the aforementioned digital app stores to remove BGMI from their listings over alleged safety and privacy concerns.
Pratik Jogiya, in his live stream, claimed that he works for Google and declared that the game might be re-listed on the Google Play Store tentatively on January 15 this year. Another gamer, who goes by the name of Sohail “Hector” Shaikh, also mentioned the possible return of BGMI in one of his recent live streams. However, he ascertained that he needs some more time to verify the truthfulness of the news.
It can be treated as a rumor as neither Google nor Krafton has uttered a single word regarding unbanning BGMI by or on January 15, 2023. However, it has come to our attention that Krafton is taking all the necessary steps to bring back BGMI. It is in continuous talks with the Indian Government since the banning of the game in July 2022.
Other than assuring the players that it (Krafton) is in serious discussions with the Indian Government to unban the game, no other official update is currently available to us. So we can safely say that the possibility of BGMI being available for Indian gamers by January 15, 2023, is pretty bleak. However, Krafton is ready to launch 2 new games in the Indian market. The games – Defense Derby and The Callisto Protocol will be launched in India early next year.
