Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has been reported injured in a car crash while traveling to his hometown Uttarakhand in the early hours of 30 December. Pant has been hospitalized and the extent of his injuries is still unknown. The accident happened at around 5:30 AM on the morning of 30 December.
The National Cricket Academy Chief VVS Laxman said on Twitter that although his injuries are unknown, he is “out of danger”. Pant was returning to Delhi from Roorkee, Uttarakhand (his hometown) when this incident occurred. Initially, he was taken to a local hospital but was shifted to a private hospital in Dehradun.
According to Ashok Kumar, the Director General of Uttarakhand Police, Pant crashed his car near a place in Roorkee called Mohammedpur Jat. In the initial probe, Pant reported that he dozed off while driving which led to a collision with a divider. The car he was driving caught fire after the crash.
Pant was not included in the Indian limited overs squad for the upcoming white ball series against Sri Lanka. He was due to report at the NCA for a 2-week knee strength and conditioning program before the home series against Australia.
