KL Rahul’s form has been a matter of concern not only for his ardent fans but for former cricketers as well. Former Indian skipper and 1983 world cup winner Kapil Dev has spewed out some harsh words for the current vice-captain of the Indian test team. Other than him, former Indian seamer Venkatesh Prasad had also something to say concerning Rahul’s current form in cricket. It must be noted however that both of them were critically harsh on his form and said nothing on the personal front.

While these former Indian cricketing stalwarts were found being critical of KL Rahul’s form, the current Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour has asked everyone to be patient with him. He reminded everyone of the runs he has scored in alien conditions and believes it is just a matter of time before the deputy skipper will be amongst runs again.

Rahul has not played in many ODIs in the last couple of months but has been part of T20Is and test matches. Looking at his performances in these 2 formats, it becomes very clear why everyone is worried. Moreover, with players like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Sarfaraz Khan, who is scoring daddy runs in domestic tournaments, it will just be a matter of time before the Indian selectors will have to look beyond KL.

KL is currently part of the Indian test team that is facing Australia in a 4-test match series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. He looked out of sorts in the 1st innings of Indian batting where he scored 20 runs and became Todd Murphy’s maiden wicket in test cricket. India won the 1st test match in Nagpur by an inning and 132 runs courtesy of brilliant performances from Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Ravi Ashwin. The 2nd test match is scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from February 17 onwards.
