Jasprit Bumrah, India’s premium speedster, can be seen donning the Indian colors after 4 long months in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. The selectors have considered Bumrah to be fit enough to be added to the ODI squad facing Sri Lanka in a couple of weeks. Bumrah aggravated his back injury during the home ODI series against Australia in September 2022 and was out since then. However, it will be interesting to see if he will be given a game as an all-important home series against Australia is just around the corner.
Bumrah was rushed back into the T20 squad that faced Australia at home after a back injury that kept him out of the Aisa Cup competition. However, his injury aggravated during his second game of the series. He eventually missed out on the flight to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
The ODI series against Sri Lanka will commence on January 10 and the first ODI will be played at Guwahati. Indian selectors have already put together a formidable pace attack that comprises names like Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj and Mohammad Shami. Now that NCA has declared Bumrah match-fit, his addition to the squad will only bolster India’s pace attack.
Bumrah shared a video clip of him bowling at the nets a few days back on his Instagram account. If Bumrah is fit and gets a few games under his belt, it will bode well for India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar test series.
