India clinches the test series 2-0 against Bangladesh today with a 3-wicket victory at Mirpur. Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer put on an undefeated 71-run 8th-wicket partnership to clinch the match and series from the jaws of defeat. With this victory, India has consolidated their position (2nd) in the World Test Championship points table 2021-23. Australia is at the top of the WTC points table while South Africa stays in the 3rd position.
India started the day at 45 for 4 needing another 100 runs to clean sweep the test series. The Bangladeshi spinners were brilliant with their line and length. They reduced India to 74 for 7 and were sniffing victory. But Ashwin and Iyer had other plans. They focused on the rotation of strikes initially and then started punishing the poor deliveries. Eventually, a 2nd-highest 8th-wicket partnership saw India home.
Ashwin was declared the Player of the Match and Cheteswar Pujara the Player of the Series.
