The BCCI and IPL committee has announced the IPL 2023 timetable, which will be the 16th edition of the tournament. According to the IPL 2023 timetable, the season will start on March 31 and the defending champions Gujarat Titans will face the Chennai Super Kings in the opening encounter on March 31. IPL XVI will commence 5 days after the completion of the inaugural season of WPL. Let us find out the detailed IPL 2023 timetable.

The following day will be a double-header where the two-time title winners Kolkata Knight Riders will take on the Punjab Kings in the first game followed by a clash between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Supergiants. In total, 70 matches will be played between the 10 franchises in the league stage. 

IPL 2023 Format

Unlike last year, the tournament will be played in its pre-COVID format where teams will play half their matches at their home venues and the remaining away. 12 venues have been earmarked to host the league games of IPL 2023. Guwahati and Dharamsala will host 2 matches each and Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings will play as home teams in these venues.

The last time IPL was conducted in the “Home and Away” format was in 2019. The tournament was conducted in the UAE in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID restrictions. In 2022, the tournament was held in India but was held in limited venues in Pune and Mumbai. 

The final of the IPL will be played on May 28. The organizing committee is yet to announce the detailed schedule for the playoffs. The detailed IPL 2023 timetable has been provided below.
