India is the new number 1 team in the ICC ODI rankings after they defeated New Zealand by 90 runs in the final ODI at Indore and clinched the ODI series 3-0. India now has 114 rating points from 44 matches followed by Australia, who have 113 rating points. With this series whitewash, New Zealand has slipped to the 4th position in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings.
India is also the number 1 ranked team in the ICC T20 rankings. India has 267 rating points from 66 matches followed by England with 266 rating points. India has a chance of increasing the gap if they secure a 3-0 result against New Zealand in the upcoming T20I series.
In tests, India is placed 2nd on the ranking table. The ICC men’s test rankings list is led by Australia with 126 rating points. India currently has 115 rating points. India will have a chance to topple Australia from the top of the test rankings if they defeat Australia by a significant scoreline in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
A test series victory against Australia (at least 3-1) will also guarantee India’s place in the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23.
